The Australian Business Innovation Stream Visa is a temporary visa for up to four (4) years for successful business owners who wish to own and manage a new or existing business in Australia.


Anyone under the age of 55 who can demonstrate a successful business career with significant turnover and a commitment to owning a business in Australia.


The Australian Business Innovation Stream Visa permits the holder to own (or part own) an Australian business. Immediate family members (such as a partner and dependent children) included on the application are also entitled to live, work and study in Australia.

The visa is valid for four (4) years and holders may be eligible to apply for permanent residency after meeting the obligations of their provisional visa for at least two (2) years.


Applications are by invitation only. To be invited to apply, applicants must lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI), be less than 55 years of age, be nominated by a state or territory government, and meet the following requirements:

  • Provide evidence of a successful business career and can demonstrate a genuine and realistic commitment to be involved as an owner of a new or existing business in Australia
  • Have net business and personal assets of $800,000 and a business turnover of $500,000

• Score at least 65 on the innovation points test.
